2017 Shakespeare on the Platform - Youth Competition

Be delighted, entertained and enthralled … support our local youth talent!!

The annual ‘Shakespeare on the Platform’ (SHOP) competition, in which students from Ottawa high schools compete to perform their chosen sonnet and soliloquy, will take place at The University of Ottawa’s Academic Hall at 6:00 p.m. on November 15, 2017.

Fifteen selected competitors from Grades 9 to 12, will represent their schools in front of an experienced panel who will judge the winners for prizes of $1,250 in bursaries (i.e., $500, $350, $250, $100 and $50). The competition is part of the RCS Ottawa’s youth program and was originally started by the ESU (English Speaking Union of Canada) in Ottawa.

SHOP is open to the public. All are welcome to attend and there is no charge for admission. Light food and refreshments will be provided. Plan to attend this much-loved cultural competition. You may see previous years’ performances on RCS Ottawa’s YouTube Channel:
