Rising Sea Levels

Greenland and Antarctica, now on track for the worst-case warming scenarios predicted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, are melting six times faster than expected.

This means that polar ice sheets are now responsible for a third of all sea level rise, up from 81 billion tonnes per year in the 1990s to 475 billion tonnes per year in the 2010s. Read more ...
