Commonwealth Youth Profile - Angelique Pouponneau

Climate action and adaption champion Angelique Pouponneau


A Commonwealth Youth Council veteran, Angelique Pouponneu is a lawyer specialising in sea and natural resources law. The Seychelles national is also a trained climate change negotiator under the UN’s AOSIS Climate Change Fellowship Programme. Her current role as the CEO of Seychelles' Conservation and Climate Adaptation Trust follows extensive work in the Caribbean, Pacific and the Indian Ocean on issues such as sustainable fisheries and climate adaptation and finance.


She also served as a legal expert in the UN’s African Group of Sixth Committee’s oceans and law of the sea work. In the youth space, Angelique co-founded SYAH-Seychelles, a not-for-profit organization in Seychelles; and was the vice-chairperson for inclusion and engagement of the Commonwealth Youth Council.
