The rise of electronic communication has led to a change in how workplace interactions happen. Meeting up to talk to someone was once necessary, but it was also time-consuming. Today, an email might suffice over a half-hour coffee break to catch up.


However, despite its convenience, electronic communication has significant drawbacks when compared to real-world liaisons. In some cases, electronic communication simply can't suffice for dealing with an issue or discussing a sensitive topic, and a face-to-face meeting becomes a necessity. A physical presence is essential to drive home a point or defend one's point of view.
