To RCS Members, Supporters, Families and Friends;
Join us for a lovely summer afternoon and Strawberry Social by the Rideau River as we celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary on the lawns of the residence of our former President, Dr. Peter Meincke and Sue Williams. In 1867 an appropriate birthday celebration would have been a Champagne High Tea! We will be doing so again as we enjoy tea, sandwiches, strawberry shortcake and champagne as we toast Canada. You will have an opportunity to stroll down to the water`s edge, play a lawn game, win a prize and enjoy wonderful conversations and music as you sit under a shaded gazebo! Canada`s 150th Birthday will be just days away from the Strawberry Social…what better way to celebrate. Join us in toasting Canada and the importance she has played in the Commonwealth. Come and bring your family and friends (children are openly welcomed). We`re putting on the kettle and Earl Grey is providing the tea! Or, have a refreshing glass of punch.
Hats and gloves not required, BUT, remember that hat you always liked, now languishing at the back of your cupboard – it could be old it could be new – wear it at the RCS Ottawa Strawberry Social and bring back the ``day of the hat``! Men`s top hats, bowlers and straws would be great too, or, creations of your own.
Get a free raffle ticket and receive a Canada souvenir to remember the day. NOTE: everyone will have fun and everyone will get at least one good doorprize, but extra tickets will be available to increase your odds for the large prizes.
The very best and Happy 150th!
