Rejuvenating the relationship between the Crown and Indigenous peoples

Over successive governments, Rideau Hall has become largely estranged from First Nations, Métis and Inuit who were meant to be treated as family. The appointment of Mary Simon as Governor General is a chance to rediscover the Crown’s role in the oldest continuous relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in North America.
